Parent’s Weekend

We took off for BYU to attend parent’s weekend.  Allie let us know that she would be working.  (Perhaps she wasn’t too excited that we were even coming; hard to say.)

We arranged to meet up with some friends that we knew years ago for dinner.  It was so nice to see them.

The next day we got to see our girl!  Obviously she was overjoyed to see us.

We gave her a ride to her apartment and helped carry in all the things she wanted us to bring from home.
We took her out to lunch and were left to fend for ourselves due to her work commitment and her social obligations (such as bike riding at midnight, followed up with a little basketball.)
So we went to a choir showcase which was very good.  We were pleasantly surprised to recognize someone from home, but weren’t surprised that he had made men’s chorus.  He is an awesome singer!

The following day, Allie carved a little time out for us.  We took her to breakfast.  While she opted to study/nap (aka play with her friends), we went for a drive in the nearby canyons.
The fall colors were so beautiful!


From there we went to a tailgate party that Allie could not go to because she was working.  We got to see an awesome a cappella group, called Vocal Point.
It was pretty exciting to hear them perform in person.  But we also had another surprise at the event.  Following the performance, we ran into some friends that we had not seen in many, many years!
While everyone else (or so it would seem) went off to the football game, we found a bench and sat down.  The campus was so empty!

We took advantage of the football game and went out to dinner.  The restaurant was desolate. 
We had tickets for a woman’s soccer game and Allie met us there.  It was a fun game to watch.
We dropped Allie off at her apartment after the game and arranged to meet her the next day at church.
After going to her student ward, we hung out some with her.  We were able to meet some of her friends (always nice to put faces with names) before departing on the next leg of our vacation.
We don’t know how much she appreciated our appearance,  but we had a nice time seeing a bit of her world and having some free time to enjoy the area.
